Preparing the Energy Industry to Thrive in the Midst of a Projected Threefold Demand Spike

LevelTen Energy has officially announced the launch of Capacity+, which is designed to support large-scale power and capacity needs of data centers, corporate buyers, AI, and manufacturers.

According to certain reports, the stated solution arrives bearing a whole assortment of tools for users to help them rapidly identify, evaluate, as well secure carbon-free capacity resources and related products to meet their unique needs.

More on the same would reveal how LevelTen Capacity+ can basically empower you big time in the context of vetting colocation opportunities, identifying projects with desired deliverability characteristics, assistance negotiating capacity contracts, and managing resource accreditation risk.

Markedly enough, considering it is already a seasoned transaction facilitator, LevelTen’s reach also allows for it to access conventional sources of capacity that can be further expanded through surplus interconnection service and colocation opportunities.

“Hyperscalers, utilities, and heavy industry are running into the same wall: capacity bottlenecks that are slowing down their projects. Our new Capacity+ offering gives them an alternative path forward. In keeping with our strong track record of delivering transparency and efficient transaction tools across clean energy markets, Capacity+ is a critical addition to our suite of power solutions for large energy customers,” said Jason Tundermann, Chief Innovation Officer at LevelTen Energy.

To understand the significance of such a development, we must take into account several studies that project energy’s demand to grow threefold by 2030. However, with an accelerated drive to meet this spike, there has emerged one major pain-point i.e. finding locations where enough generation capacity is available.

Keeping this in mind, more and more utilities are now in the process of designing programs that make it possible for large load customers to source their own capacity. The idea here is to expedite their project development timelines through a specialized channel, and therefore, approve the customers’ large load interconnection requests at a better speed.

“As a developer of very large, ready-to-build sites for the largest data center users, speed and flexibility are vital. Construction delays are incredibly costly. Because capacity is emerging as a key development bottleneck, LevelTen’s Capacity+ product is bringing significant value to both land developers and capacity suppliers,” said Brian Janous, co-founder of Cloverleaf Infrastructure and former Vice President of Energy at Microsoft.

Hence, in a bid to extend the given worldwide effort, LevelTen completed a successful capacity procurement pilot earlier this year for powered land developer, Cloverleaf Infrastructure. As for the results, the RFP process, executed via Capacity+, was able to reach more than 600 U.S. power project developers. The responses, on the other hand, included solar, wind, and storage projects, along with demand-response products from new-build and operational projects.

At launch, Capacity+ will look to serve power producers, brokers, banks, utilities, and corporate PPA owners who are interested in maximizing their capacity resources, whether existing or in development.

Founded in 2016, LevelTen Energy’s rise up the ranks stems delivering marketplaces, software, automated analytics, and expertise generally required to accelerate clean energy transactions. In fact, the company proprietary platform is currently the world’s largest online hub for renewable energy buyers, sellers, advisors, asset owners, and financiers.

The scale of LevelTen’s operations can be further contextualized once you consider its LevelTen Energy Marketplace offering unlocks access to more than 4,500 power purchase agreement price offers spanning 28 countries in North America and Europe. Not just that, it also packs together LevelTen Asset Marketplace which plays the role of a common avenue for over 800 renewable energy project developers and owners, providing these users online tools and expertise they need to buy, sell, and finance assets quickly.

“With LevelTen Capacity+, we shortlisted nearly double the accredited capacity we were seeking” said Janous. “Although we’d previously connected directly with as many capacity providers as we could find, LevelTen’s platform was able to canvas the entire universe of potential capacity solutions, unearthing more excellent options in a matter of weeks.”
