Fiat’s Tiny Topolino EV Set to Hit U.S. Streets Soon

Iconic micro-electric car expected to reshape low-speed mobility as America embraces compact urban vehicles.

Detroit, Michigan, 10 December 2025 – Fiat is preparing to double its U.S. lineup with the arrival of one of the smallest electric vehicles on the planet, the charming and ultra-compact Fiat Topolino. Currently, Fiat sells only one model in the U.S., the 500e. Still, the company’s CEO has confirmed that America will soon welcome the adorable micro-EV that has taken Europe by storm.

Fiat CEO Olivier Francois shared the news following the Topolino’s recent appearances at major American events, including the Los Angeles Auto Show. “The Fiat Topolino, our small, joyful, colorful car that is now everywhere in Europe, has created tremendous excitement among consumers,” he said. “We’ll be bringing the Fiat Topolino to the U.S., with more details to come next year.”

Although the announcement arrives shortly after public praise for small cars from political leaders, Fiat clarified that the decision is based on market demand, not policy commentary.

The Topolino, revealed in 2023, is a two-seat, fully electric quadricycle built on the same platform as the Citroën Ami and Opel Rocks Electric. Powered by a compact 5.4-kWh battery and an 8-horsepower motor, it delivers a modest 46-mile (75-km) range and a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h). Its tiny footprint, just 99.6 inches long, makes it ideal for dense urban areas, beachfront neighborhoods, and cities where low-speed mobility options are increasingly popular.

Charging the Topolino is simple: the battery reaches full capacity in four hours using a 240-volt outlet. In several European countries, teens as young as 14 or 16 can legally drive it, highlighting its role as an accessible mobility solution rather than a traditional car.

In the U.S., industry experts believe the Topolino may be classified as a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV), a category suited for low-speed, community-focused transportation. With golf carts and micro-EVs rising in popularity in places like Miami, Los Angeles, and resort towns, Fiat’s quirky newcomer could find a devoted niche market.

In Europe, the Topolino is priced around $11,500 before incentives. While U.S. pricing remains unknown, analysts believe the model will serve more as a lifestyle product than a volume seller. Last year, Fiat sold about 1,500 cars in the U.S., and a 40-mile micro-EV is unlikely to make a significant sales impact, but it may change how Americans view compact electric mobility.

As digital mobility grows and urban areas embrace sustainable, space-saving transport, the arrival of the Topolino marks a bold and playful step toward a new era of micro-electric travel in the U.S.
