Initiating a Brand-new Drive to Sustainably Enhance Energy Storage for Emergency Needs

Arevon Energy, Inc., a leading American energy developer, owner, and operator, has officially confirmed the inauguration of its 200 megawatt (MW)/400 megawatt-hour Peregrine Energy Storage Project in San Diego.

According to certain reports, the stated project makes for Arevon’s fifth completed utility-scale energy storage facility in California, thus bolstering the company’s position as a leader in battery storage development and operations.

More on the same would reveal how this $300 million Peregrine Energy Storage Project is situated in the Barrio Logan community, a location where it employed more than 90 personnel at peak construction. Not just that, the project is also dispatching long-term property tax benefits estimated to total more than $28 million over its lifetime.

As for what it will do from an operational standpoint, the answer resides in its pledge to store electricity for use during high demand intervals.

Boasting an ability to provide power across 254,000 homes for two hours per day so to reduce the risk of brownouts and blackouts, this state-of-the-art facility features modern lithium iron phosphate batteries which, by the way, are understood to be the safest technology on the market.

“Energy storage is key to delivering reliable clean energy when San Diegans need it most,” said Todd Gloria, Mayor of San Diego city. “Projects like Peregrine help stabilize our grid, reduce outages, and move us away from fossil fuels. We’re building a cleaner, more sustainable future for all of us — and I thank Arevon for being a partner in that effort.”

Arevon marked the inauguration of its new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which featured project’s partners, local business owners, and other community members, celebrating the collaborative efforts to bring the facility into operation.

Anyway, the new facility also builds upon the company’s track-record of supporting the local community and its worthy initiatives.

Talk about these initiatives on a slightly deeper level, we begin from how it engaged with Father Joe’s Villages to more effectively provide housing, comprehensive care and resources for homeless individuals.

Next up, we must dig into company’s collaboration with Barrio Logan College Institute which involved sponsoring of STEM education programming and scholarships for first-generation college students.

“Arevon and their team’s generous contributions of necessary funding and time, including volunteering at our campus and more than $10,000 in donations, will go far to help hundreds of our neighbors leave homelessness behind for good,” said Deacon Jim Vargas, President and CEO at Father Joe’s Villages. “Arevon’s commitment to being a good neighbor for our entire community is clear. We look forward to our continued partnership.”

Another detail worth a mention relates to how Arevon has also worked alongside Perkins K-8 School to facilitate STEM-related educational field trips fot deserving students and families in the Barrio Logan community.

The company has even fostered a partnership with Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego to sponsor three consecutive years of the Police Softball Del Pickney Memorial World Series game with proceeds supporting memorial scholarships and emergency relief aid for local deputies and their families.

Among other things, it ought to be acknowledged that Arevon roped in Rosendin and EPC Services as construction contractors for its Peregrine Energy Storage Project.

Southern California Edison (SCE), on the other hand, would purchase Peregrine’s Resource Adequacy capacity under a long-term agreement to help support the state’s reliability needs.

Founded in 2017, Arevon’s rise up the ranks stems from implementing 3.2 gigawatts worth of renewable energy in operation, all while having more than 800 MW under construction. The company is advancing the scope of clean energy, at present, across its Eland 1 Solar-plus-Storage Project, Vikings Solar-plus-Storage Project, and Condor Energy Storage Project.

To make things even better, Arevon also recently-announced offtake agreements for its Cormorant Energy Storage Project and its Avocet Energy Storage Project, as well as closed financing on its Eland 2 Solar-plus-Storage Project.

“Mayor Gloria and his administration are strong proponents of renewable energy and battery storage, and their support has been vital in getting this project over the finish line,” said Kevin Smith CEO of Arevon Energy. “Energy storage is the cornerstone of a resilient and modern electric grid, and I am proud that Arevon’s Peregrine Energy Storage Project is now contributing to San Diego’s Climate Action Plan.”
