Entergy has officially announced a donation worth $3 million to help its low-income customers become more energy efficient and save money on their energy bills. According to certain reports, the stated donation will go into supporting the company’s “Beat the Heat” program, a program which has already provided customers with comprehensive bill payment assistance, fans, energy efficiency kits, home weatherization, and invaluable support from local community partners. More on the company’s energy-themed efforts would reveal how it has, thus far, donated more than $2.8 million in funds through shareholders, employees, and customers to its Power to Care program. Furthermore, it has delivered free access of a separate program in Single Stop, an online resource that connects households in need with financial assistance and more, to over 3 million customers. Single Stop was basically conceived as a free of cost initiative to empower households in need to enjoy simple yet effective financial assistance.
Using the given program, Entergy would successfully get over 8,000 Entergy customers to complete a particular screening process. The stated exercise, on its part, successfully identified more than $61 million in potential financial aid and other resources.
Moving on, Entergy has also awarded more than $83,250 in grants to vulnerable customers for providing free resources like electric fans and home weatherization kits. Alongside that came a donation of around $25,000 to local organizations that weatherized homes for customers in need. Markedly enough, the company has even conducted Entergy Navigators fairs in underserved communities, supplying guidance and resources to customers, and therefore, help them manage their bills.. Then, there was the distribution of more than 3,900 free electric fans to help customers beat high temperatures and save on electricity bills throughout the summer. Not just that, Entergy has also distributed over 900 energy efficiency kits to customers. These kits included money-saving LED lightbulbs, advanced power strips, bathroom faucet aerators and V-seal weatherstripping.
Beyond that, the company has weatherproofed more than 200 low-income homes during its neighborhood sweeps that were held in select, underserved communities.
“We are deeply committed to empowering our customers, especially during challenging times like the summer heat,” said Patty Riddlebarger, vice president of corporate social responsibility at Entergy. “Through our ‘Beat the Heat’ program and our partnerships with local organizations, we’re helping our neighbors stay safe, cool and reduce their energy expenses. We’re proud to provide ongoing support to those who need it most in the communities we serve.”
All in all, Entergy presently offers several other energy efficiency and bill help programs. For instance, it recently launched a Bill Toolkit website, which connects customers to bill management, energy efficiency and financial assistance resources. In essence, such an initiative should be able to help you explore simple ways to lower your electricity use and costs. Next up, we touched on company’s Power to Care program, but what we didn’t the mention was way it provides emergency bill payment help to older adults and customers with disabilities.
Joining that is myAdvisor initiative, which makes it possible for customers to track their energy usage and access alerts on how much power they use each day. Entergy is also a running program called Level Billing. This one, like its name might suggest, allows customers to “level out” spikes in seasonal energy use, making their energy bills more consistent every month. In case that wasn’t enough, then we ought to mention how the company has made significant payment arrangements available for customers needing flexibility with paying their energy bill.
