Grid Modernization Xchange 2027 Opens Call for Speakers to Advance the Next Generation of Electricity Infrastructure

Grid Modernization Xchange 2027 Opens Call for Speakers to Advance the Next Generation of Electricity Infrastructure

Grid Modernization Xchange 2027 has opened its Call for Speakers, inviting utility executives, grid operators, technology leaders, infrastructure developers, engineers, large energy users, regulators, investors, and policymakers to contribute to a focused program addressing the technologies, investments, and operating models shaping the next generation of the electricity system.

Taking place on May 10, 2027, in Los Angeles, California, the one-day conference will bring

together the organizations responsible for planning, expanding, operating, digitizing, financing, and regulating transmission and distribution infrastructure across the United States.

Electricity demand is accelerating as AI infrastructure, data centers, advanced manufacturing, transportation electrification, distributed energy resources, and broader economy-wide

electrification place new requirements on the grid. The challenge is no longer simply adding generation. Utilities and grid stakeholders must expand capacity, modernize distribution networks, integrate flexible resources, improve operational intelligence, and deliver infrastructure investment while maintaining reliability and affordability.

Five Strategic Pillars

The 2027 program is structured around five strategic pillars: Expanding Grid Capacity, Transmission & Interconnection; Modernizing Distribution Networks & the Grid Edge; Orchestrating DERs, Storage & Flexible Demand; AI, Digitalization & Autonomous Grid Operations; and Delivering Grid Modernization: Investment, Regulation & Affordability.

Across these themes, the conference will examine transmission expansion, Grid-Enhancing Technologies, advanced conductors, HVDC, interconnection, ADMS, distribution automation, AMI 2.0, intelligent substations, DERMS, Virtual Power Plants, energy storage, demand response, microgrids, flexible large loads, AI, digital twins, predictive asset management,

cybersecurity, capital prioritization, rate design, cost recovery, workforce capacity, permitting, and customer affordability.

Call for Speakers

The conference committee is seeking speakers who can bring practical experience, measurable outcomes, technical depth, and strategic perspective to these discussions. Priority will be given to contributions grounded in real-world grid projects, modernization programs, infrastructure development, technology deployment, utility operations, and commercially relevant case studies rather than broad corporate or promotional presentations.

Relevant contributors may include leaders from investor-owned utilities, public power,

cooperatives, transmission owners, ISOs and RTOs, grid technology providers, DER and storage companies, engineering firms, large energy users, data centers, infrastructure investors, regulators, research organizations, and public agencies.

Speaking at Grid Modernization Xchange 2027 provides an opportunity to contribute directly to the conversations shaping transmission, distribution, grid-edge intelligence, flexible resources, and digital operations while engaging with senior decision-makers responsible for grid

investment, technology adoption, interconnection, and system transformation.

Building a More Capable, Flexible & Intelligent Grid

With 100+ organizations represented and a 70%+ senior decision-maker focus, Grid

Modernization Xchange 2027 is designed to provide a concentrated environment for technical presentations, executive panels, strategic benchmarking, and structured networking.

The event centers on one defining question: what will it take to build a more capable, flexible, and intelligent grid?

Speaker proposals should include the speaker’s name, job title, organization, brief biography, and proposed topic or area of expertise.
