Meta Powers Up with 250 MW Solar Deal in Arkansas

A new clean energy partnership with EDP Renewables signals the growing push for sustainable digital infrastructure

Lake Village, Arkansas, 5 May 2026 – In a major step toward clean energy adoption, Meta Platforms has partnered with EDP Renewables North America to develop a 250 megawatt solar energy project in Arkansas.

The agreement is built around a long-term power purchase deal that will support a new solar project known as Cypress Knee Solar. The goal is simple. Generate clean electricity while supporting the rising energy needs of digital platforms.

This project will add new renewable energy to the power grid, helping Meta move closer to its commitment of matching its electricity use with 100 percent clean and renewable energy.

What makes this partnership significant is its scale and impact. This is the third clean energy collaboration between the two companies, bringing their total joint renewable capacity to 545 megawatts.

Beyond sustainability, the project is also expected to benefit local communities. It will create hundreds of construction jobs and generate long-term economic value for the region. It could also contribute millions of dollars in revenue to the local economy, supporting infrastructure and public services.

The solar facility is expected to be completed by 2028, marking another milestone in the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure across the United States.

In simple terms, this partnership reflects how technology companies are increasingly investing in clean energy to power their operations. As digital demand grows, projects like this show how sustainability and innovation can move forward together.
